Michael Dawson thinks he and his Hull teammates can eliminate Arsenal from the FA Cup this evening; in what will be their fourth time of trying in the space of three years.

A cup tie between Arsenal and Hull has become something of a regular occurrence over the past few seasons, since their meeting in the 2014 final.

Hull got off to an excellent start that day, scoring twice in the opening eight minutes, but the Gunners class showed through eventually and they beat them 3-2 after extra time to claim the trophy.

They then drew each other in the third round of last season’s competition, but Arsenal comfortably won 2-0 and ended going on to win the Cup for the second consecutive year.

The teams took the field against each once again last month, but neither side took the initiative and the game finished 0-0; giving Hull the opportunity to take them on at the KC stadium tonight.

Dawson thinks his team can finally get the better of their opponents. Speaking ahead of the game, (via Goal) he said: “We certainly do have some history with Arsenal.”

“The place will be rocking, hopefully the Premier League will be coming back to the KC and from next August we’ll have a Premier League team coming every single week.

“The FA Cup final gave a day out a few years ago, albeit the wrong result. It is a competition that we want to be successful in.

“But we also want to be in the Premier League and that’s the most important thing for us this season. There’s no hiding that.

“But we will be looking to progress into the next round, albeit against a good Arsenal team.”

Francis Coquelin will be suspended for tonight’s game after his sending off against Spurs on Saturday. However, David Ospina is likely to keep his place in goal as Petr Cech is still out with a calf injury.

Alex Iwobi may get another chance to impress, with Wenger having used him in every FA Cup outing so far this season.

Alex Iwobi has made five Premier League appearances this season.
