Former Tottenham Hotspur defender Michael Dawson believes Dele Alli has what it takes to be “very important” for his club and country in the years to come, he told talkSPORT.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the best young talents in English football after bursting onto the scene for MK Dons last season, and now Spurs in the current campaign.

Alli’s form has been so good that England manager Roy Hodgson called him up to the senior national team squad for their recent double-header against Estonia and Lithuania.
Ex-Tottenham centre-back Dawson predicts Alli can play a significant part in the future of both Spurs and England throughout the course of his career.
“It’s unbelievable where he’s come from, from League One and getting MK Dons promoted last year,” Dawson told talkSPORT on Thursday.

Michael Dawson spent 10 seasons with Tottenham Hotspur before joining current club Hull City in 2014.
The defender continued: “Speaking to people around the club, you hear that even at the age of 18 he was always the best player on the pitch.
“And now for him to step up and play nine games in the Premier League and getting an England cap too, it’s credit to him and his talent.
“He’s going to be a very important player for England and for Spurs in the future.”
Dawson joined Tottenham from Nottingham Forest in 2004 and went on to spend 10 seasons at White Hart Lane, lifting the 2008 League Cup with the North Londoners.

Dele Alli was called up to Roy Hodgson’s England squad for their last two Euro 2016 qualifying matches, against Estonia and Lithuania.
Alli came through the MK Dons youth academy and helped them secure promotion to the Championship last term with 16 goals in 39 League One games for Karl Robinson’s charges.
The midfielder was handed his Premier League debut against Manchester United on the opening day this season and scored his first top-flight goal against Leicester City in August.
Alli has completed five full games for Spurs, creating eight chances in the process. Take-ons have been one of his weakest attributes this term though, with just a 26% success rate
No side has conceded fewer Premier League goals so far this season than Tottenham Hotspur (eight).
